EGG HUNT!  Our Egg Hunt is a little different than ones you may have experienced in the past.  It is an "at-your-own-pace" egg hunt that is done independently.  First, you need to go inside the brick lobby to get your bag and directions.  Each PPS student is to find 6 eggs.. one of each color. All eggs are hidden in the outdoor classroom and are empty.  When all 6 are collected, return to the brick lobby to turn your eggs to the corresponding table:  pink egg into the pink table for a prize, blue egg to the blue table and so on.

Visit each table to collect all 6 prizes.

KINDERGARTEN INFORMATION

Most schools begin registration for Kindergarten in March.  "March into Kindergarten" is a well-known theme in Cuyahoga County.  Visit the Kindergarten website at http://www.marchintokindergarten.com/

The annual PCSD Kindergarten Registration event will be held this Wednesday March 8, 2017 and Thursday March 9, 2017 at the Cuyahoga County Public Library Parma Branch, located at 6996 Powers Boulevard in Parma, located near Parma City Hall and University Hospitals Parma Medical Center.   The event runs from 7:30 AM - 12:00 PM and then from 2:00 PM - 7:00 PM, both days.  Children must be 5 years old by September 30 to be eligible to register.

Many documents are needed to successfully register an incoming Kindergarten age student.  Before attending this event, please visit www.parmacityschools.org/studentservices or call (440) 885-8794 for information.  Avoid long registration lines in August and register incoming Kindergarten age students for school next year. Parents and children can also connect with many community programs and resources.  Please encourage any parents of incoming Kindergarten age students in the community to attend this welcoming "one-stop shop" event.

STEM Family Open House is an event for families to learn more about STEM Education housed at Pleasant Valley Elementary School. The event will be held on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 starting at 6:00 PMin the cafeteria at Pleasant Valley Elementary School, 9906 Pleasant Valley Road in Parma.  Talk with staff and visit classrooms to learn more about problem-based learning (PBL) and if it is a strategy that fits your child's needs.  This Open House is for families interested in learning more about STEM Education, but incoming Kindergarten families are strongly encouraged to attend.  For more information about STEM Education visit our website at www.parmacityschools.org/STEM.

Why we DON'T have a Preschool Graduation....

Our entire program is Developmentally Appropriate (Developmentally Appropriate Practice is explained here).  We make sure that we put closure on the end of the school year is an appropriate way as well.  Click the links below to read about developmentally appropriate celebrations for young children:

 Early Learning and Development Standards

Interested in what a child should know when they enter kindergarten?  The state of Ohio developed standards that every teacher and school are trained on.  This standardized tool reassures parents and families that all children are ready for school and all schools are ready for children.  To see the standards visit the Early Childhood Ohio site at
